Camper road trip on Balkan

Camper road trip on Balkan

If you want to explore more than Croatia, read the campervan road trip story of Ivona and Toni, a lovely couple who shared their travel itinerary from Croatia to Montenegro, Albania, Greece and Kosovo. They took Billy for their travel companion but you can choose between Piafy, Frankie, Billy or maybe our newest van.

Enjoy their amazing photos and admire the unnatural beauties of this region (yes, this is Balkan, not Skandinavia or New Zealand).

Zadar – Perast, Montenegro

Perast is a small coastal village, stretched along the shore right across the narrow entrance into Bay of Kotor, and 12 kilometres away from the municipality of Kotor. Blend of sea and mountain, what more can you ask for? 😁 We spent a night there, had a morning coffee, tutka (tutti frutti rakija/brandy) and continued to Drač, Albania. We suggest pit stop at St.Stefan. Stunning views!

Drač, Albania

On our way to Drač we stopped for a lunch at “Natyra e qete” restaurant/hotel. I highly recommend you to eat there. Great food, ambient!

Drač is a creative mess. Also if you’re not from India it could be culture shock for you. Our next stop was Tirana, we stayed there two nights. Recommendation for Salt restaurant!

Drač – Bovilla lake (1hr and 15 min ride)

Bovilla lake is a must see. On our way back we stopped at Mustafa restaurant. Tried traditional “Fërgesë me Gjizë (milk pie). Yum!!

At first we saw nothing.. and then.. Special moments (Bovilla lake,Albanija) Lake Bovilla, Albania

Bovilla lake – Krujë

Krujë is small charming city on 600 MASL. People there are lovley. There you can see Tower of Kruja, Skenderberg museum, old pazar and eat at Bar Restorant Bardhi Agroturizem!! Local couisine. There I tried kabuni, desert made of lamb.

Krujë – Berat

Berat is located in the south of the country. It is surrounded by mountains and hills, including Tomorr on the east that was declared a national park. The river Osum runs through the city. We had a guided tour around Berat castle with guide Samir. [Name] Samir Hatija Berat Albania guide. [Phone number] +355 67 727 6073

Berat – Zvërnec island (near Vlora)

We spent night at Eco Camping Valona. Visited Himarë. Cute but if it’s not summer you have nothing special there.

Himarë- Sarande

Located on an open sea gulf of the Ionian Sea within the Mediterranean sea. It’s charming and if it’s warm you can spend a day at beach.  There also you can visit Butriniti&Lekursi Castle, Gjirokastra and Blue Eye. From Sarande you can grab a ferry to Corfu (Greece) or like we did (for weather forecasting) visit Meteora (Greece).

Sarande – Meteora (Greece)

On our way there we stopped to eat at Analipsi restaurant in Kalambaka. That is more than restaurant – it’s experience. Food amazing, owner great men!! We also bought there tea and some domestic groceries.

Meteora has 6 monasteries on the unique natural background. We agreed the feeling is like you are in Avatar movie.

Greece – Kosovo

After that, the road took us to Prizren, Kosovo. We spent there few days with our friends. Kosovo surprised us, traditional, surounded by mountains.. wow ! There we ate at Gatsby on main square and Blue house or something like that, close to Gatsby.. fantastic food!

And on the way back stopped at Mrizi & Zanave agrotourism at Tirana. IT’S A MUST !!! Anything I say is not enough. Just go there, thank us later 🙂

Again we sleept at Perast and finished our roadtrip.
