We are Yvette (32) & Šime (34) and recently our family raised another member - baby boy Oskar. Except three of us, at the moment YourWay family counts 6 campervans.
Until 2018, we lived a conventional lifestyle—graduating from university and starting careers in our respective fields, psychology and civil engineering. But then, we decided to trade office walls for open roads, routine for adventure, and the ordinary for the extraordinary.
1. How it all began
Our story starts on the other side of the world—New Zealand. In 2018, we quit our jobs, applied for working holiday visas, and set off on the greatest adventure of our lives. Over the course of 15 unforgettable months, our journey changed us completely.
When we arrived in New Zealand, we quickly noticed that everyone was traveling by campervan—so we did the same. Our campervan wasn’t really a van; it was more of a larger car with a bed inside and a tiny kitchen in the back. No table, no electricity, no fancy comforts—just the essentials. But that little home-on-wheels had everything we needed, and we cherished every moment in it.
We named our car Piafy. She wasn’t just a vehicle; she was our travel companion, our safe space, our adventure buddy. We took care of her, listened to every sound she made, checked the oil, the wheels—because Piafy wasn’t just about getting us from A to B. She was where we ate, slept, laughed, read, and made lifelong memories.
2. Days on the road
Life on the road was simple, yet magical. We woke up surrounded by nature, made coffee and breakfast, read a book, and decided where to go that day. Some days we hiked through breathtaking landscapes; other days, we simply relaxed at a campground, swaying in a hammock with nowhere to be and nothing to do.
Evenings were our favorite—playing games, grilling under the stars, sipping wine. No schedules, no stress—just pure freedom. Everything we needed was in our van, always with us. And with every passing day, we felt more alive. This was our first campervan experience, but we knew right away—it wouldn't be our last.
3. Next adventures
After New Zealand, we spent five months backpacking through Southeast Asia, India, and Sri Lanka. While backpacking has its charm, nothing compares to traveling by campervan. With a van, you’re free to go wherever you want, whenever you want. No relying on public transport, no strict schedules, no carrying heavy backpacks from city to city. And the best part? The van’s kitchen. Cooking your own meals means more flexibility and saving money instead of eating out all the time. Plus, there’s something special about making your own coffee with a view of a misty mountain or a quiet beach.
4. How YourWay was born
When we returned home, we knew we had to share this experience with others. That’s why we launched Croatia’s first converted campervan rental company—so more people could discover this incredible way of traveling. Croatia isn’t just about Split or Dubrovnik.
